Front and Center at On Demand 2011

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Today’s report from On Demand 2011 comes from Caitlin McBrair, WW Program Manager, Collateral & Translation.

The InfoPrint presence at On Demand 2011, held in Washington, D.C., March 22-24, can be summed up in three words “front and center.” This is my first time attending a trade show, so as I was coming down the escalator to the show floor, it was impossible not to be impressed with InfoPrint’s space when I saw the high-flying circular and color signage over the booth, which we shared with Ricoh.

Set up right in the front row, customers, media and analysts couldn’t miss us or our “InfoPrint rock stars” — also known as Laura Clark, Briefing Center Coordinator; Michele Bollig, WW Marketing Program Manager; and Lesley Wylie, Director, Global Marketing, with big smiles greeting everyone.

First things first, visitors to our booth wanted to hear about our hot Managed Automated Document Factory (ADF) Services. What a buzz it caused! Customer after customer after customer wanted to learn more about Managed ADF -– the industry’s first managed workflow service powered by the cloud. Don Dew, ADF Solutions Manager, John Hankins, WW Services Offering Executive, and Mike Phipps, Senior Solutions Consultant, Software & Services, were armed with Managed ADF security-focused FAQs, paddle-shaped pens, and their ADF expertise, ready to talk to prospects about the operational efficiencies available to mid-market companies. The top messages were high document integrity and efficiency, immediate cost savings and enhanced productivity from a turnkey solution. And our customers, the media and the analysts were eagerly listening!

The attention-worthy InfoPrint 5000 MP drew a crowd, as well, as visitors watched Bonnie Whitaker and Paul Turner, Solutions Specialists, demo this color platform for the first time in the United States. Finally, the long-time focus of On Demand, our cutsheet family of printers -– InfoPrint Pro C901, InfoPrint Pro C900AFP and the InfoPrint Pro 907EX -– were a steady source of interest and excitement.

The first day of On Demand was a success from start to finish, and we expect great activity for the rest of the show. Stay tuned!

And check out these great photos from the show floor:

Day one proved to be busy with a steady stream of customers visiting both the InfoPrint and Ricoh portions of the booth at ON DEMAND.

Hunkeler innovationdays Day 3: InfoPrint Solutions and Switzerland: Confidentiality Guaranteed

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

Guess what InfoPrint Solutions and Switzerland have in common?  Certainly we share an appreciation of beautiful snow-covered mountains and fine chocolate, but our tastes diverge somewhat when it comes to cuckoo clocks! However, when it comes to technology both InfoPrint Solutionsand Switzerland value the importance of security.

Like Switzerland, where the Hunkeler innovationdays event is currently taking place, InfoPrint Solutions has customers in the financial services industries that are obliged to adhere to strict compliance guidelines. For these and other businesses, confidentiality, integrity and availability of all corporate and customer information are paramount.

There is safety in numbers. This is confirmed by the fact that the vast majority of InfoPrint Solutions’ production customers rely on the industry-standard AFP architecture known for its robust data control, security and integrity standards. And many of the customers and prospects who have visited our stand have told us that security is an important consideration in any technology and output environment.

We have built our reputation on helping customers meet security standards. As manual reprinting can leave print operations exposed to errors, we also offer the InfoPrint Mailroom Integrity ADF solution to automate this process and minimize risk.

For organizations issuing checks and other sensitive documents, we also have a number of MICR offerings to address this important issue, including the InfoPrint 5000 MP platform.

Don’t forget: safety doesn’t happen by accident. And don’t forget to check out all of InfoPrint Solutions’ latest news coming out of Hunkeler innovationdays here!

2010 Solutions Partner Days Event Draws Big Crowd in Boulder

Friday, November 19th, 2010

Last quarter, InfoPrint Solutions hosted its Solutions Partner Days event at the worldwide headquarters in Boulder, Colorado with co-host, Printronix.  More than 50 Solutions Partners from the United States and Canada gathered for educational breakout and conference sessions, along with an open forum for attendees to exchange ideas and bring their different needs to the forefront.  This was the fourth time InfoPrint Solutions has hosted such an event, the first time in Boulder, CO, and the turnout and response was truly impressive.  Check out some highlights below!

One session to note was from Bryan Flanagan of Ziglar, titled “Building the Sales Professional and the Sales Person!!!”  He provided guidance on how to expand existing sales knowledge and build better relationships, how to develop confidence as a sales professional and the importance of understanding your individual behavioral style.  A Solutions Partner who attended the session commented, “You think you know everything about your customer, but each customer is unique with their own specific set of challenges and requirements.  You need to attack every opportunity as unique.”

During the open forum Solutions Partners and product experts were able to engage with each other to discover new ways to deliver business benefits, discuss current issues facing customers and businesses and generate ideas about how InfoPrint Solutions and Printronix can further support Solutions Partner business initiatives.  This was a valuable opportunity for Solutions Partners to gather product and business insights from InfoPrint Solutions’ leadership team, as well as from one another.

Another portion of the event Solutions Partners found resourceful was the tour of the Boulder InfoPrint Center (BIC).  Solutions Partners were excited to see the machines they have studied on paper actually in action and experience firsthand how it all comes together.

InfoPrint Solutions is thrilled with the turnout for Solutions Partners Days and the Solutions Partners found it very useful, providing really positive feedback, and are looking forward to the next one.

If you attended the event, do you have any feedback to share?  Have you been to similar events and did you find them worthwhile?  Let us know what you think!

Thank you,

Graph Expo 2010

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

The Ricoh and InfoPrint Solutions reception desk was quite a popular spot for attendees looking for more information about our solutions

At the main entrance to the Graph Expo tradeshow, there is a very wide table topped with a dozen coffee urns, the fuel meant to keep thousands of show attendees on their feet and listening carefully to the many presentations that describe the Next Generation of Print, this year’s theme for the show.

It’s a good thing the fuel is here because the attendees are here in droves today, quite a few more than yesterday, the first day of the show (it was a Sunday, after all).  Today saw a lot of customer action in the InfoPrint Solutions booth as well as a healthy line-up of media and analyst interviews.   Customers are getting more and more serious about color and precision marketing, and our team was speaking to a lot of folks about many of our solutions and services.

Lesley Wylie, Director, Global Marketing, highlights the capabilities of the InfoPrint Pro C900AFP to a large crowd at Graph Exp

We made several announcements prior to the show to get the excitement going, including the largest color announcement we’ve ever made, bringing to market the broadest selection of color options in the industry  — from the InfoPrint 5000 MP to the GP to the VP,  InfoPrint  Solutions has what any customer may need, providing investment projection and a platform for growth.

Other highlights from the show today included Don Dew who presented on the topic of: Save Money (and help justify color) with Piece Level Management as part of the Xplor International educational sessions at the show.  He noted that you can save so much money with our ADF solutions that you can actually afford to buy lunch at Graph Expo!

We are keeping people up to speed on show activities by posting videos as well as tweeting the latest updates from the InfoPrint Solutions account.  Check them out and join us virtually at Graph Expo 2010!

Virtual Media and Analyst Day — In Case You Missed It!

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

InfoPrint Solutions wrapped up our annual 2010 Virtual Media and Analyst Day yesterday – and it was a huge success! Thanks to those of you who listened in and asked some very relevant questions. At our Virtual Media and Analyst Day – or our “VMD” as it’s more fondly known – we shared a wide range of news announcements and updated the audience on what to expect from us at GraphExpo, including our most important news of the year in the color market and the inkjet space, further reinforcing our leadership in this space. If you weren’t able to tune in or just didn’t get enough, we have outlined the highlights below. You can also click here to watch a full replay. Enjoy! We’re looking forward to seeing you at Graph Expo next week!

  • First and foremost, the InfoPrint 5000 is being extended to include three platforms, all of which leverage the proven, scalable, highly reliable drop-on-demand technology used since the launch of the first platform in 2007. The InfoPrint 5000 members, announced yesterday are outlined here:
    • The MP Platform can be configured to meet a variety of requirements. The InfoPrint 5000 MP current models support monochrome and MICR printing (launched at IPEX in May 2010) for customers with high-volume applications who want to start transitioning to inkjet. The new model gives customers who are beginning to develop color applications a new entry point into the production color market. Customers can select the speeds and fluids for the platform,  then convert if their needs change in the future.
    • The GP Platform has established industry leadership due to having the best balance of meeting customer requirements for reliability, print quality, throughput and flexibility. Consistent with InfoPrint Solutions’ strategy of maximizing investment protection, the InfoPrint 5000 GP incorporates all the enhancements made since the first release of the platform.
    • The VP Platform is designed for companies with extremely high volumes and tight print windows for mission critical applications, therefore needing proven technology with exceptional reliability and excellent print quality to meet their clients’ needs.

Other news announced yesterday included:

  • InfoPrint ProcessDirector Momentum: At GraphExpo, InfoPrint Solutions will showcase a new browser-based remote management offering, Windows capabilities and integration with new offerings from production mail solution provider Kern for InfoPrint ProcessDirector. This browser-enabled remote access is ideal for mobile devices such as the Apple® iPad.  Other enhancements include the crucial support for Windows from a workflow perspective and integration with industry-leading Kern.  All of this can be seen right from the show floor next week..
  • Business Continuity Services: This is an extension of our top-ranked Automated Document Factory workflow offerings and professional services. Facing unique continuity requirements, transaction printers in the financial, healthcare, insurance, utility, telco and government markets can now enable robust disaster recovery options in compliance with their business requirements. Our Business Continuity Services group focuses on three key options for recovery – onsite server continuity, off-site server continuity and external site continuity.
  • Sustainability Consulting Services:  This offering is designed to address the market’s growing need for effective and resource efficient programs. It helps organizations quantify the environmental impact of their print operations, as well as identify and execute initiatives that support their continual improvement goals without impacting their customer demands and business commitments. InfoPrint Solutions’ Sustainability Consulting Services team works with its clients to identify specific initiatives and track metrics for various aspects of the document development and output business, focusing on three main aspects.  These aspects are workflow and optimization, selective print and suppression, and mail prep and distribution.  This helps organizations print for less and print less waste through business transformation and infrastructure optimization.
  • Optimization Consulting Services:   This professional services offering aims to support customer needs in production printing environments. It leverages the company’s expertise in print workflow development to build more efficient, more productive and, ultimately, more competitive print environments. By evaluating an organization’s environment and infrastructure, the Output Optimization consultants help customers improve tracking and reconciliation, maintain confidentiality and optimize the entire print-to-mail process.

There is much more to learn about InfoPrint Solutions’ exciting news, so please stop by our booth (#2017!) at Graph Expo (October 3rd- 6th in Chicago), which will be shared with our parent company Ricoh. Additionally, feel free to reach out to Meghan Attreed via email at mattreed@breakawaycom.com with any questions or to request additional information.

We’re looking forward to seeing you in Chicago!

Graph Expo 2010 – What to expect at this year’s show

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

As many of you know, this year’s coveted US printing event, Graph Expo, will be held from October 3-6 in Chicago, Illinois, exploring the latest models and trends in the industry. Are you ready for the big event?  We sure are!

If you aren’t familiar with the show, Graph Expo is an excellent resource for leading manufacturers and suppliers to reveal their latest products, technologies and services. Live demonstrations are on hand to help attendees see the real results of these solutions before making their purchasing decisions (which we hope they do). From commercial to book to transactional printers, Graph Expo has it all!

WhatTheyThink posted an article last week outlining what to do and see at the show this year.  In addition to it being a relevant show for graphics arts or commercial printers, anyone interested can really benefit from the educational sessions, including discussions on marketing services, social networking and other trends in the industry.

InfoPrint Solutions executives will speak during two sessions at the Xplor Conference, which will coincide with Graph Expo for the first time. Carrie Murphy, Market Development Manager, EDP, will discuss “How to Improve Customer Engagement” at N426a on Tuesday, October 5 at 12:00 p.m. Lee Gallagher, Director of Precision Marketing Solutions, will be presenting the topic “Using Data to Communicate More Effectively to All Channels” at N426a on Wednesday, October 6 at 9:00 a.m.

Xplor has been recognized globally as the best program in the electronic document industry for its content and relevance, and the show at Graph Expo will be no different. The two day program will feature eighteen educational sessions, presented by industry experts and leading edge technologists. The scheduling for the sessions allows attendees to explore the Graph Expo exhibits as well as attend the Xplor sessions. Don’t miss these insightful discussions!

The WhatTheyThink article also predicts that inkjet printing will be a hot topic this year at the event, and encourages readers to pick up samples from the various vendors who will be on hand. With more than 450 exhibitors at the show, there should definitely be some new exciting, colorful examples of how print can boost your bottom line.

Special events opportunities will also be on hand at the show, including Executive Outlook, a one-day event held the day before the show that is dedicated to the new technologies being developed in print. The event will also reveal the “MUST SEE ‘EMS” product winners for the first time!

Will you be attending Graph Expo this year? Come by the InfoPrint Solutions booth #2017 to see what exciting new solutions we have to offer this year!   And as usual, we will provide blog updates daily from the show.

ExpoPrint Delivers on Its Promise of Success!

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

Jam-packed booths, crowded aisles and overzealous printer enthusiasts can only mean one thing – ExpoPrint Latin America has been a great success!

Over the past week, InfoPrint Solutions has received very positive feedback and reactions to the array of solutions and software displayed at the show, from ADF and Precision Marketing to the InfoPrint C900 and InfoPrint 5000. ExpoPrint has proven to be an exciting and fruitful event for us this year, providing us with a venue discuss our solutions and the business capabilities of our products with the Latin American market.

Overall, it appeared that the show was a success for everyone on the show floor.  Quite impressive!

Energy Conservation with Inkjet Printing

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

Whether printing statements, books or collateral, using energy efficient technology is an important aspect for all businesses to consider. It is vital in today’s society to keep sustainability top of mind.

Inkjet printers can decrease the amount of energy used to print documents, no matter if its color or monochrome output. Compared to traditional continuous forms digital technologies, inkjet solutions can save up to half the amount of energy because it only needs to heat paper based on the amount of ink used – unlike technologies which may require all of the paper used to be heated enough to melt toner. Businesses may assume that digital color is to blame for higher energy use, but the truth of the matter is that it’s actually the type of technology being used.

At Ipex this year, InfoPrint Solutions announced an addition to its continuous forms printing family with the InfoPrint 5000 MP, a high-speed inkjet printer that provides customers with one of the lowest power consumption solutions in the inkjet market. This printer, stemming from full color versions of the InfoPrint 5000, provides a monochrome alternative to traditional digital technologies that can utilize significantly less energy, allowing for lower electric bills per run.

With the InfoPrint 5000 portfolio, businesses are given a new, lower level of power consumption. Customers have highlighted some features that they found to be the most impactful with the InfoPrint 5000 family, including its compact, integrated and simple design, the use of water-based inks, the extended life of the printhead (reducing disposal of printheads), and more.

When many people think of sustainable printing, they automatically think of reducing paper usage or energy. This, of course, is important, but not the only aspects of being a “green” printer. With our wide-array of compatible inkjet options, InfoPrint Solutions enables businesses to keep their solutions up to date and not fill up our landfills with outdated equipment, thereby minimizing unnecessary e-waste.

Many businesses are migrating to inkjet print technology, and by doing so they are ensuring sustainability be a top priority.  By only heating the paper based on the amount of ink used, these printers are proving to be an efficient way to avoid the use of excess power and therefore not only be sustainable, but also reduce overhead costs.

In today’s economy, there is no room to compromise on providing the highest quality of solutions, as well as the importance of maintaining a sustainable environment. Why should we have to choose one or the other?

In what ways are you increasing your use of green technology? What features are important to you in choosing a printer? Please share with us!  And for more info about sustainability, please follow me on Twitter at www.twitter.com/JoeCzyszczewski.

IPEX – Insight From the Show Floor

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

InfoPrint Solutions has been busy showcasing a variety of solutions at IPEX, one of the most significant tradeshows for the printing, publishing and media industries. In the midst of tradeshow mayhem, we wanted to share our experiences with you from the show.

Aside from the traveling travails due to the recent volcanic ash disruption, this was the busiest show I can recall in some time, even more so than the recent US event, On Demand. We experienced so many positive interactions and were very proud to reveal our new logo last week at our stand shared with Ricoh, an exciting development that has been in the works for some time. Working closely with Ricoh was especially significant as we introduce our new identity as a wholly owned subsidiary company and demonstrate a full range of offerings for both existing and potential customers.

Customers from around the world stopped by to see our new workflow and precision marketing solutions and products, such as the InfoPrint 5000, InfoPrint 4100, InfoPrint C900AFP and the InfoPrint 100.

Several customers from Japan, Australia, India, South Africa and Russia also expressed their enthusiasm for the new products on display as well as the presence of Ricoh and InfoPrint Solutions together in a booth. Of course the rare glimpse of the iPad was a big hit, as it is still unavailable in many parts of the world!

The international audience at IPEX was a great way for us to connect with new people. We had a steady flow of meetings and booth tours with a few dozen journalists who have been able to experience the strong synergy between InfoPrint Solutions and Ricoh as a collective force. We look forward to what opportunities will come as a result of the success we had at the show.

Did you attend IPEX this year? We’d love to hear your thoughts on the show!
